Slack House Organic Farm is a working organic dairy and sheep farm offering suberb B&B accommodation. It is situated in beautiful open countryside overlooking Birdoswald Roman fort on Hadrian's Wall and on the southern edge of the Kielder Forest complex, in Cumbria but bordering Northumberland. The Cheese Shop sells "Birdoswald" - an organic cheese made on the farm with the sweet milk from Eric's pedigree Ayrshire dairy herd. It sells only home-produced and very locally-produced food, and serves morning coffee and aftenoon teas by appointment. Visitors may meet a wandering gang of chickens which produce the eggs that guests enjoy at breakfast. Fruit and vegetables from the garden are also served. Guests will also find the cottage garden a pleasant place to relax, with great views. Farm walks are available on request.
